WINONA -- The Winona Lady Tigers fast pitch softball team will face South Pontotoc in the first round of the 3A playoffs starting today.

The Lady Tigers managed to squeeze into the playoffs as the fourth seeded team out of District 4. The South Pontotoc Lady Cougars are the second seeded team in 2-2A.

It's the 12th straight year the Lady Tigers have made the playoffs, according to head coach Steven Helms, but the key will be focus.

"We have to play an errorless game tomorrow," Helms said. "We do know that Eupora beat South Pontotoc earlier this season, so we have to make the routine plays. Everyone is 0-0 right now and it's a new season."

The Lady Tigers are 10-7-1 on the season.

Game time is slated for 5:30 today at South Pontotoc for game one. Games two and three, if necessary, are slated for 5 p.m. Friday at Winona.
