In the their quest for a 2A state title, the J.Z. George Track and Field team claimed second place in the district 4-2A meet last week at Mississippi Valley State University.

According to track and field coach Heath Dudley, J.Z. George will compete in the 2A regional at MVSU on Saturday.

For the girls, Dudley said it was a great district meet with several to advance in many events. "Had a great meet, and we advanced everybody we expected and with a few additions," Dudley said. "Still, there is room for improvement. We have a couple of young ladies who just need to step up their effort and know that their team depends on them. "

Dudley said every meet, here on out, is crucial and this week's region meet will be very intense from the moment go. "The main thing that matters is being top four in your respective event and advancing to the next week," he said.

With the boys Dudley said the same thing goes with the importance of finishing in the top four.

"The boys had a great meet and advanced everyone with a couple of surprises," Dudley said. "We just have to stay focused and keep working to the ultimate goal."
