COILA - Cynthia Galey Bowie, age 66, died Friday April 11, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Lexington September 26, 1947 to the late Henry Franklin 'Buck' and Beulah (Lehman) Galey and resided most of her life in Carroll County. Mrs. Bowie was a former employee of Beth's Flowers in Lexington and Carroll Academy. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. 'Bobby' Bowie.
Visitation was from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral Services were 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olive Cemetery in Black Hawk with Reverend Dennis Sullivan officiating.
Pallbearers were Lee Stowers, Jeff Christopher, Sean Angell, James Sims, Jerry Galey and Marion Boggs. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Shonna (Gary) McGehee of Black Hawk and Lori (Erich) Taylor of Olive Branch; a brother, Edwin Galey of Morgantown, N.C.; two sisters, Aliene Downs of Black Hawk and Barbara McCorkle of Vaiden; and three grandchildren, Hillary Upchurch, Dustin McGehee and Sophie Taylor.
