WINONA -- What the Winona Tigers wanted to do was finish out the month of March strong, and right now it looks that way.

The Tigers got their second district win of the season and improved to 2-0 on the season in 4-3A play after knocking off Aberdeen 15-1 at home Tuesday.

Over the last three games, the Tigers have not seen trouble scoring runs, as they've crossed the plate 45 times since last Friday.

The Tigers beat Aberdeen last Friday 27-0 behind a stellar performance from Patrick Morrison. Morrison pitched three shutout innings and faced only 11 batters.

The Tigers beat 5A Starkville 4-3 on Saturday. Marlo Hill, Josh Carpenter, and Andrew Wilson each had two hits as the Tigers produced 4 runs on 9 hits. Tony Taylor also had a double.

Senior Josh Carpenter pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, and he struck out 5. In the bottom of the sixth Taylor came in relief, allowed no runs on one hit and struck out one to give the tigers a 4-3 victory. The Tigers record moves to 8-2 on the season.

The Tigers take on 2A Bruce Friday night in Winona.
