Funeral services for Melissa Steen Crum, 59, of Vaiden were at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at Bethany Church of God near Poplar Creek, with burial following in the Bethany Cemetery. Dr. Duran Palmertree and Rev. Derek Roberson officiated the services.
Visitation was Thursday, March 20, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bethany Church of God and on Friday, March 21 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Crum died from complications of pneumonia at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson on Tuesday, March 18.
Mrs. Crum was born in Kosciusko on June 10, 1954, to Warren Woodrow "Duce" and Bonnie Palmertree Steen, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Church of God, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a devoted Christian and never met a stranger. Mrs. Crum loved her children, was a devoted "Momo" to her grandchildren and enjoyed taking care of them.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Bob Crum of Vaiden; daughter, Nicole Hobbs Acree (Josh) of Farmerville, La.; son, Jeremy Hobbs (Shannon) of Farmerville, La.; sisters, Deborah Steen Smith of Sumter, S.C. and Teresa Steen Marter (Ricky) of Vaiden; brothers, Terry Lane Steen (Kim) of Vaiden and Gerald Don Steen (Linda) of Ridgeland; five grandchildren, Katie Norman, Chance Marter, Austin Hobbs, Jackson Acree, and Jacob Hobbs; a special aunt, Dean Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Bobby Graham, Joe Booth, Jeffrey Steen, David McElroy, Brad Graham, Bryan Graham, Kory Steen, and Keith Autenberry. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Austin, Chance, Jackson, and Jacob.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Church of God Cemetery Fund.
