WINONA -- The Winona Christian Stars came off the spring break on a high note and could get their 10th win of the year at Kirk Academy today.

The Stars have put up double digit runs in four of their last five games and came off Spring Break with wins over Hebron and Carroll.

On Tuesday, the Stars knocked off the Kirk Raiders 14-8 in Winona. The Stars are 9-1 on the season and is 2-1 in league play.

"Offensively, we're hitting the ball very well," head coach Shannon Self said. "One through nine hitting is going a pretty good job."

Self said the Stars have struggled defensively, but he thinks that will come around and improve as the season continues.

"We've struggled a bit, but I think we'll be fine," Self said. "Our pitching is going as I expected. We've had some pretty good innings out of our pitchers."

The Stars lost their first game Friday, a double header against Indianola Academy. The Stars lost a 10-3 decision in the first game and won the second 13-9.

The Stars will travel to Grenada to take on Kirk today where games are slated for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Winona Christian returns home Monday when they take on Bayou Academy.
