Funeral services for Lester R. Green of Duck Hill were at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Duck Hill, with military honors. Rev. Fletcher Moorman and Rev. Jon Hames officiated the services.
Visitation was Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Mr. Green, 68, died of heart failure at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora on Wednesday, March 12.
Mr. Green was born in Merigold, Mississippi, on August 19, 1945. He was a retired Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army and a member of Enon Baptist Church in Grenada. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and tinkering in his workshop. He was preceded in death by his father, L. B. Green; and two brothers, Ricky and Dennis Green.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Green of Duck Hill; his mother, Willie L. Green of Grenada; daughter, Jennifer Sims (Trey) of Brandon; son, Michael Green (Alba) of Westminster, Mass.; sisters, Janice Hettich (Carl) of Grenada and Patty Potts (Jimmy) of Grenada; brother, James Green of Grenada; grandchildren, Chris Green, Allison Green, Alayna Sims, Brandon Green, and Maci Sims; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Tim Thomas, Scott Stewart, Damon Blakely, Cody Carson, Louis Ray, and James Green, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Green, Jack Blakely, Morris Timbs, Jerry Blakely, and Mack Fitzgerald.
