WINONA -- The Winona Tigers powerlifting team had a stellar performance in the 3A North Regionals last week. As a result, three will compete for a North State Title.

Lift coach Ken Chandler said senior Kentrell James will head to his third straight North Half championship and is seeking a third ticket to the 3A state finals.

Chandler said James displays a dedication in the weight room that is hard to measure.

"He [James] just works so hard," Chandler said. "He is very dedicated, and on top of being a great kid, he knows what it takes to win."

James will compete in the 132 pound weight class.

Also heading into the North championships will be junior Hudson Partlow, who will compete in the 308 weight class. Seventh grader Jayarious Lofton will compete in the 114 weight class.

In the Regionals, the Tigers managed to finish fourth out of 13 participating schools.

The 3A North Half is set to start tomorrow at Charleston.
