Funeral services for First Sergeant Winston D. Armstead were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Haven United Methodist Church.

Mr. Armstead, 79, of Winona passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his residence. He was a member of Haven United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Men organization. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict and retiring from the Army Reserves. He then worked as a welder for Anel Corporation for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Armstead of Winona; two daughters, Verlinda A. McNutt of Winona and Barbara A. Lawrence of Vicksburg; a son, Winston D. Armstead, Jr.; a sister, Everline Hall of Kilmichael; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren

Burial followed in Lindsey Springs Cemetery in Kilmichael with full military honors.

Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014 and from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Rev. Harvey Lee Green officiated the services.

Sanders and Sanders Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
