Jewel Doris Bedwell, age 85, a resident of Winona, formerly of Morton died Saturday February 15, 2014 following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 18, 2014 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton with interment in East Morton Baptist Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday February 17, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Jerry Holmes will officiate.
She was born in Leake County on August 16, 1928 to her parents, Earnest Moore and Julia Boyd Moore. She had lived in Morton for many years where she was a part of the community with her family and a member of East Morton Baptist Church. She later moved to Carthage and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed her time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Mrs. Bedwell was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Halley and her late husband Joe Bedwell and a son, Kenneth Halley.
Survivors include her three children; Beverly Roos (Eric) of New Orleans, La., Jeffrey Halley of Meridian and Carla Lawrence (Dr. Paul Lawrence) of Winona. Additional survivors include four sisters; Dot Hollingsworth (Jack) of Morton, Margaret Anderson (Sonny) of Jackson, Mary Johnson (Maylon) of Carthage, Linda Pigg (Tommy), both of Carthage and a brother, James E. Moore of Lamar.
She also leaves a legacy of 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cliff Hensarling, Zachary Halley, Nich Halley, A.J. Wood, Ryan Wood and Kenon Lollar.
