Lady Jags in district tourney

The J.Z. George basketball teams will travel to Riverside as they close out the regular season and set their sights on the district tournament.

Both the Jaguars and Lady Jags will participate in the 3-2A tournament at Leland beginning Tuesday.

The Lady Jaguars picked up a district win Friday night on the road at Hollandale with a 42-33 victory over Simmons High School.

The Lady Jags (13-13 overall, 5-4 in district) led 13-8 after one, 21-16 at the half and 33-21 after the third.

Shadesha Harris led J.Z. George with 24 points.

The Jaguars dropped a 75-32 decision to the Blue Devils and dropped to 3-22 and 0-9 on the season.

Simmons led 20-6 after one, 37-11 at the half and 50-26 after the third.

Demarcus Brewer led the Jaguars with seven points.

J.Z. George visits Riverside today.
