Thornton signs with ICC

Taylor Thornton, a senior at Carroll Academy, has signed a softball letter of intent with Itawamba Community College in Fulton. Taylor's primary position is center field. While at Carroll Academy Taylor has a .525 batting average., a .551 on base percentage and a school GPA of 3.8. The last two seasons with Carroll Academy, Taylor has lead the team in offense. Taylor plays tournament softball with the MS Crush out of Byram, MS.

Throughout her career at Carroll Academy Thornton was an All Conference selection in 2013, 2012 and 2011 and selected best offense in the district for the past two season. In 2010, she won Best Defensive Player.

"I'm very excited about playing for Itawamba," Thornton said. "Itawamba has a real good softball program, and I feel the school is a good fit for me. I've meet the players, and all are real nice. I chose Itawamba because I felt the coaches really wanted me to play for them."
