Mitzi Kelly Peeples, 55 of Mire, La formerly of Greenwood died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her home in Mire, La. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at Odd Fellows Mausoleum. Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Entombment was at Odd Fellows Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Greg Plata officiated.
Mitzi was born July 9, 1958 in Greenwood. She attended Greenwood Public Schools and Pillow Academy. She attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana-Lafayette) and she worked for several years with various oil field surveyors for oil companies in Louisiana as well as Wyoming and North Dakota. She was baptized as a child at First Baptist Church in Greenwood. She is survived by her parents Edwina and James Quinn of Greenwood; her sons, Todd Peeples and Christopher Peeples of Mire, La.; her brother Billy "Bubba" Kelly of Greenwood and his wife Janice; a special brother Jim Quinn and his wife Beverly and their children Madison and Grayson Quinn, all of Greenwood; her stepmother Rose Kelly; a special sister LaDonna Mangum; her cousins Angela McCool Setla and husband David, Jeffrey McCool, Blake McCool; and her Kelly cousins; and also her half-brothers Mark and Ken Kelly.
Mitzi also leaves her longtime Mire, La. friends Sandra Broussard and Stormy Matte, and her many lifetime friends from Greenwood.
The family wishes to thank Mitzi's physicians, Dr. Minuet and Dr. Fei her pulmonologist, for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers Mitzi would request donations in her name to Golden Ark and Leflore County Humane Society.
Pallbearers were David Setla, Kevin McConnell, Sr., Steve Kelly, Dean Ainsworth, Jeff Houston and Mike Nelson.
