Funeral services for Merrick Anderson Braswell, 56, of Hattiesburg were at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery near Coila. Rev. Monty Bounds and Rev. Kenneth Armstrong officiated the services.
Visitation was Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Braswell died of heart failure at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville on Friday, January 24.
Mr. Braswell worked at Eagle Dining on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. He was a member of 19th Avenue Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, where he enjoyed singing with the choir. He was an avid Ole Miss football fan and adored all his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Corey Aldridge; and his grandparents.
Survivors include his parents, Rev. Carlis A. and Patsy Addy Braswell of Winona; three sisters, Paulda Henson (Len) of Louisville, Janice Kilgore (Ricky) of Winona, and Theresa Coward (Dwayne) of Coila; two nieces; three nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.Pallbearers were Glen Alexander, Jon Howerton, Myron Braswell, Brad Aldridge, Jason Alford, and Kalin Alford. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Alexander and Brendan Winstead.
