Lady Jags get first district win

NORTH CARROLLTON -- The J.Z. George Lady Jaguars secured their first 3-2A win of the season, while the Jaguars keep scratching for their first.

The Lady Jags knocked off South Delta in Rolling Fork 44-43 last Friday to secure their eighth win of the season.

The South Delta girls led 7-5 after one, but George took a 17-15 lead at the half. South Delta went in front 33-28 after the third quarter, but the Lady Jags held a 16-10 advantage in the fourth.

Shadesha Harris led the way for the Lady Jaguars with 13 points, and they look to get back to .500 when they return home to face Leland Friday night. The Lady Jaguars are 8-9 on the season and even at 1-1 in district play.

As for the boys, the Jaguars dropped a 58-33 decision to fall to 3-14 and 0-2. South Delta only led 17-9 at the half, but outscored J.Z. George 31-11 in the third quarter.

Demarkhis Brewer led the Jaguars with six points.
