Funeral services for Elizabeth "Beth" Laney of Kilmichael were at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, at Bethlehem Baptist Church near Kilmichael, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. David Haggerty, Rev. Bryan Burson, and Rev. David Rogers officiated the services.
Visitation was Friday, November 29, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home and on Saturday, November 30, from 1:00 p.m. until service time, at the church.
Mrs. Laney died of heart failure at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Tuesday, November 26. She was 91 years old.
Mrs. Laney was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and played the piano. She was an avid stamp and postmark collector and a writer. She loved to cook and adored her family. Mrs. Laney was known for remembering her family and friends by sending them cards to mark their special occasions. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Laney; parents, Jessie Frank and Minnie Lee Moore Campbell; two sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Thompson (Donald) of Winona and Ginger Wolfe (Freddie) of Winona; two sons, Gerald Laney (Evelyn) of Midland, Texas, and Curtis Laney (Lillie) of Winona; sister, Rose Davidson of Greenville; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
