WINONA -- The Winona Christian Stars have their last game of the season Friday when they travel to Bayou Academy, but to head coach Joe Boyette a win is all they need.

After falling to North Delta 37-7 last week in Batesville, the Stars see themselves as one of the teams scratching for the final playoff spot.

"Right now we're at 15 of the 16 teams to get in," Boyette said.

With the new MAIS playoff system, playoff teams will be placed into a standard 16-team bracket (similar to the NCAA March Madness bracket).

"There is no north and south anymore," Boyette said. "So we're fighting to get not only in the playoffs, but get the highest seed possible."

Boyette said the Stars can move up as high as an 11 spot.

The Stars face a 3-6 Bayou team that is also 1-3 in 1-AA play.

It was Brooks Lott that scored the lone touchdown in the Stars loss to North Delta.
