CARROLLTON -- Things have gotten interesting in 2A play, especially since Carroll Academy got a key district win Friday night over Deer Creek 14-0.

In a sloppy contest, rain began pouring only a few minutes before game time. It continued to rain throughout the entire contest.

Coach Neil Turner shifted around the offense with Justin Farris sidelined with a knee injury as well as Clark Sanders, and played quarterback Jake Streater in the backfield. Austin Brewer has now moved to quarterback to give the Rebels an equal attack on the offensive side of the ball.

At the start of Friday night's contest against the Warriors, Tristan Tackett scored from 2 yards out during the first quarter and Streater ran it in for the two-point conversion. There would not be any more scoring until the fourth quarter when Jake Streater scored from six yards out.

Tristan Tackett carried the ball 12 times for 66 yards, sophomore Jake Liddell carried the ball 11 times for 50 yards, and Jake Streater had 16 carries for 46 yards. Carroll had a total of 159 rushing yards to Deer Creek's 25.

Defensively Tristan Tackett had six assists and a sack, Hunter McCorkle had two solos and four assists, Jordan Bell had three solos, two sacks and one assist, Shawn Shepard had two assists and a solo for a sack and a fumble recovery, Austin Jennings had two solos for sacks and three assists. Tyler Henson and Brewer had interceptions and Henson added a sack also. The Rebels didn't allow Deer Creek into Carroll territory the entire night.
