The Lady Rebels was one of the teams and had a 3-1 finish over weekend play.
Pool A winner was Indianola, Pool B winner was Silliman, Pool C winner was Bayou, and Pool D winner was Leake. Silliman and Bayou won the semi-final matches, and Silliman defeated Bayou 6-3 to take the tournament championship.
But it was the Lady Rebels 5-4 win over Benton that put the Carroll atop district play and has set the tone with one week remaining before the playoffs start.
Hope Clanton went the distance in the circle for Carroll giving up 4 runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Carroll is now 23-6 and 6-1 in the district. Clanton is now 13-2.
Benton scored two runs in the bottom of the second on two singles and a throwing error by the Lady Rebels. By the sixth inning, Benton took a 4-1 lead.
The Lady Rebels rallied in the sixth. Ashtyn Carpenter hit a double at the top of the inning, and Avery Thornton was later hit by a pitch. A two-run triple from Sydney Liddell sliced Benton's lead to one, and Madison Womble would later double and score.
The Lady Rebels now set their sights on Jackson Prep on Saturday and will return home Monday against Humphreys Academy for senior night. The Lady Rebels season finale will be Tuesday at Heritage.
Carroll Academy will host the North A State Tournament beginning on September 21.
