A June 20 accident, in which one woman died, remains under investigation, according to officials with the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.

Tony Dunn, public information officer for MHP's Troop D, said the accident, in which 47 year-old Margaret Davis of Tupelo died, has been turned over the accident reconstructionist.

"We're simply waiting for results from the accident reconstructionist, so this accident is still under investigation."

The accident occurred on the section of U.S. 82 between Kilmichael and Stewart, and according to the MHP, both Joe Taylor of Stewart's 1987 GMC Jimmy and Joyce Moore of Houston's 2001 Isuzu traveled east. The highway patrol reported that Taylor's vehicle struck Moore's vehicle, in which Davis was a passenger, and resulted in her being ejected from the Isuzu.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the accident, Trooper Ben Williams, former public information officer, said Taylor could possibly face DUI charges pending results from the Mississippi Crime Lab.
