GREENWOOD - Walter 'Buck' Johnson, age 71, died Thursday July 17, 2014 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
He was born in Neshoba County March 27, 1943 to Douglas B. and Maude Lee Wilkerson Johnson and was the youngest of 16 children. He lived in and around Greenwood most of his life and was a retired carpenter. His hobby was selling produce and to his regular customers he was known as the 'watermelon man.' He enjoyed going to McDonald’s in the morning and drinking coffee and was a member of West President Church of Christ in Greenwood.
Visitation was 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral Services were 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Williams and Lord Funeral Home with Brother Mark David Shiers officiating.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Donnie Gregg, Jimmy Johnson, Dale Johnson, Wally Wetzbarger, John Richard Sanders and Calvin Johnson. Burial was in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Teoc.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Rogers Johnson of Greenwood; son, Jeffrey Buck Johnson of Greenwood; daughter, Angela Dawn Staten of Grenada; sister, Mary Rogers of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Emily Lauren Staten and Jackson Shane Staten, both of Grenada; and a host of nieces and nephews.
