According to head coach Joe Boyette, the Stars, who are currently 2-3 in 1-AA play, are neck and neck with every team in the division.
"It's really tight in this district right now," Boyette said. "Every team is similar in many ways."
Tuesday night the Stars dropped a district contest against Indianola on the road 48-45. The Stars got 13 points from both Luke Pittman and Lane Boyette. Brooks Lott scored 11 in the contest. For the Stars, they are currently 14-7 and will hit the road again today when they travel to Hebron.
Both the Stars and Lady Stars return home Friday night when they host Kirk Academy, a district contest.
For Boyette, he said the boys will need to improve on shooting and he feels when they improve, everything will come around.
"We're playing great defense right now," Boyette said. "When we start knocking down shots, we'll be at the top of our game."
The Lady Stars were also in action against Indianola and fell 61-46 in a league game. Mary Kendall Ware scored 18 in that contest, and Megan Macko chipped in with 15.
On Monday night, the Lady Stars defeated Calhoun on the road 50-16 behind 18 from Sara Taylor Goss and 11 points from both Mary Kendall Ware and Megan Macko.
"We're starting to play the tempo that I've tried to instill into the system," head coach Durward Stanton said. "We still struggle when teams are physical with us, and that's what happened at Indianola."
At 1-4 in the district and 18-8 overall, the Lady Stars will return home Friday to face Kirk Academy in an attempt to climb the 1-AA rankings.
