NORTH CARROLLTON -- The J.Z. George boys and girls basketball teams opened their 3-2A slate in tough road losses.

The Lady Jags dropped a 48-20 decision to the West Bolivar Lady Eagles at Rosedale Tuesday night. The Lady Jags slip to 7-9 on the season.

Head coach Heath Dudley expressed the importance of guard play.

"Until our guards step up and shoot the ball, we'll be a sub .500 team," Dudley said. "We have to have better guard play."

The boys fell 58-33 to the Eagles and slipped to 3-13 on the season. Dudley said defense and rebounding will have to be the focal point for the Jags.

J.Z. George hit the road to Rolling Fork Friday to take on South Delta in a district contest. Both the boys and girls return home on Jan. 17 to take on Leland.
