WINONA – The community is invited to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, food, and fellowship in downtown Winona this Saturday evening.

The annual Fourth of July Celebration will be held on June 28 in downtown Winona from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

According to Winona Main Street director Sue Stidham, this free event is a perfect, family-friendly way to celebrate our Nation’s birthday.

“I invite everyone to come out and celebrate our freedom,” Stidham said. “Bring your lawn chairs to watch the fireworks.”

Stidham said Vaiden’s up-and-coming country artist Haggard Collins will headline Saturday’s event. Collins is the 2011 winner of the Great Arkansas Talent Search and a popular entertainer in the region.

Winona musician Donnie Bright will also be performing at the event.

A fireworks display, sponsored by Allen’s Fine Jewelry, is set to begin at dark.

Several food vendors will be on site during the event. Stidham said hotdogs and sno cones will be available as well as other food items.

For the kids, Stidham said a waterslide will be available once again, and the Winona Fire Department will be in charge of water activities during the event.

“Four hundred water guns will be given away to the children,” Stidham said. “There will be two places for the children to fill their water guns. Hi Grade Farm Supply has loaned us two troughs for the day.”
