Hugh Cameron, age 68, of Granite City, Ill., entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, January 26, 2014 after a two year battle with cancer. Hugh was born on July 5, 1945 in Winona, and was the son of the late Simmie and Inez (McCain) Cameron.

Hugh married the love of his life, Kathy Kutz, in Fairview Heights, Ill. on January 10, 1969. They celebrated 45 wonderful years of marriage this year. Hugh proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, and retired from the Harmony School District 175 in Belleville, Ill., where he was the Director of Transportation and Video Security. Hugh and his wife, Kathy, were the owners/operators of Cameron Motorcoach Tours and enjoyed taking groups to Branson, Mo. and Nashville, Tenn.

An avid Cardinals Baseball fan, Hugh was honored to be able to drive the Cardinals players while working as a driver for Vandalia Bus Lines in Caseyville, Ill.. Hugh was proud to be a Mason and Shriner and enjoyed playing the drums in the Ainad Shriners Marching Band. A lifelong drummer, Hugh played with many great musicians, and most recently was the drummer for the San An Tone Band.

Hugh is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Kutz) Cameron of Granite City, Ill.; his three adoring daughters, Tracy (Brian) Birkinbine of Lake Saint Louis, Mo.; Kelly Schneeberger of Granite City, Ill.; Lesley (Chad) Stuart of Collinsville, Ill.; his nine admiring grandchildren Amber Nelson, Corinne Nelson, Cameron Nelson, Jonathan Birkinbine, Joshua Birkinbine, Sean Cameron, Paul Schneeberger Jr., Hannah Schneeberger, and Matthew Stuart.

Hugh never met a stranger, and therefore will be missed by countless friends and extended family. Memorial donations may be made to the family at Irwin Funeral Home.

Visitation was held Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 from 4 pm - 8pm with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Irwin Funeral Home, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, IL.
