GRENADA -- Former Vaiden Police Chief Allen Vance pleaded guilty to arson in Grenada County Circuit Court last week.

Vance, who was charged with third degree arson, entered his guilty plea and was sentenced to three years suspended for three years probation.

The guilty plea stemmed from Vance's February arrest and arson charge on insured property, after the state fire marshal's office conducted an investigation of a burned vehicle in Grenada County on Feb. 10.

Vance resigned from the chief position in June after serving as the town's chief since 2010.
