Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Lois Nelms of Vaiden were at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Vaiden Cemetery in Vaiden. Bro. Durward Stanton officiated the services.
Visitation was Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nelms, 79, died Wednesday, July 2, at Vaiden Community Living Center in Vaiden.
Mrs. Nelms was born in McCarley on September 4, 1934, to Louis and Polly Rogers Chambley. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of New Salem Baptist Church near Vaiden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ben Wiley Nelms; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, James Wiley Nelms of Vaiden; sister, Hilda Corbin of Southaven; nieces, Tara Eldridge (Adam) and Renee Holman; and great-nieces, Jacey and Audrey Eldridge and Halle and Edda Holman.
Pallbearers were Harry Ray Tribble, Martin Tribble, Frank Stewart, Calvin Bowlin, Rickie Corley, Sid Lloyd, Paul Dance, and Gary Welch. Honorary pallbearers were Robby Miller, Richard Fruendberg, Milton Parrish, Bryant Parrish, Crawford Logan, Lynn Gomiller, and Lee Chanault.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Salem Baptist Church or to the New Salem Cemetery Fund.
