GREENWOOD - Cecil Wayne Browning, age 76, died Friday April 11, 2014 at his residence.
He was born in Carroll County September 29, 1937 to the late Robert Henry and Alma (Tuberville) Browning, Sr. and resided in the Greenwood area most of his life. He was employed by the City of Greenwood for 28 years in the street department. He was a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church, and his hobbies were fishing, hunting and outdoor activities. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Reid Browning and a brother, Robert H. Browning.
Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral Services were at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton with Dr. Jim Kelly and Rev. Roy Bush officiating,
Pallbearers were Nick Watson, Davie Lott, Sean Wheat, Shawn Browning, Lake McNeer, Roy Bush, Jo Jo Watson and Morris Wells. Honorary Pallbearers were Jimmy Browning, Sean Michael Wheat, Dr. Michael Boler, Dr. James Robbins and Dr. John Lucas, III. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Miller Browning of Greenwood; a son, Michael (Marjorie) Browning of Greenwood; a daughter, Kerry Browning (Sean) Wheat of Greenwood; a brother, Jimmy (Shirley) Browning of Winona; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
